Burlington Bay Lighthouse and Lava Flow Kayak Tour

Paddle with us from Burlington Bay

Enjoy paddling on Lake Superior in a comfortable and stable tandem (2 person) sea kayak. You’ll kayak from Burlington Bay in Two Harbors on a 3-4 mile paddle to Agate Bay and back.

On this 3 hour kayak tour, you will:
– Receive a thorough, land based introduction to boats, paddle strokes and safety skills
– Enjoy the scenery (including seeing bald eagles) on the forested, rocky shoreline
– Learn about North Shore history from your guide/naturalist
– Paddle past the lighthouse and breakwall to Agate Bay – a working harbor where thousand footers are sometimes docked
– Get up close to the Edna G, a historic tugboat in Agate Bay

We provide a wetsuit, spray skirt, PFD, paddle, safety equipment and instruction from PEO’s expert guides/naturalists.

No previous kayaking experience is necessary. Children ages 10 and older are welcome on the tour. All PEO kayak tours are customized small group experiences designed to meet the individual needs and interests of our participants.

Your participation in our public tours helps PEO provide outdoor education programming for low income children in Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. We look forward to kayaking with you!

What Is Not Included?

We will provide a complete clothing and equipment list for your kayak tour when you complete the booking. You will need to bring water and snacks. Plan to wear a swimsuit that will go under a wetsuit and bring shoes that can get wet, a towel and change of clothes for after the tour.

Gratuities for your guide are not included but are greatly appreciated for a job well done. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, under IRS regulations, any additional contributions exceeding the actual value of goods or services received, including tips, are considered charitable contributions, and help support PEO’s programming for low income youth.
