Youth Programs :: Staff
The husband and wife team of Blake Cazier and Stephanie Love, have over 30 years of combined professional experience sharing the outdoors with people of all ages and abilities.
Steph has worked with youth since 1995 for a number of organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Outward Bound, the YMCA, the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation and Woodland Hills. She has a M.S. in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and is an adjunct instructor at The College of St. Scholastica. She has advised the American Camp Association National Standards Commission on incorporating youth development practices in the camp accreditation process. Stephanie spent four years as a youth development trainer and camp director for the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation’s demonstration program for youth, the Institute for IDEAS in Clinton, Michigan. She was featured in the July/August 2006 issue of the Duluthian Magazine, and is a certified Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, American Red Cross Lifeguard, American Red Cross and American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Instructor. She has presented on youth development at national conferences, and is a youth development trainer for the DYAC. In addition to directing Positive Energy programs, Steph is a consultant for the University of Minnesota Youth Work Institute and provides technical assistance to youth programs as part of the Quality Matters project. She is also a data collector for the High/Scope Educational Reserach Foundation's Youth Program Quality Intervention national study.
Resume
Blake has over 20 years of professional experience as an outdoor educator. For the past 12 years, he coordinated the Outdoor PURSUIT! program at The College of St. Scholastica, where he developed the youth program, which provided opportunities for low income children to experience a wide range of outdoor activities. Blake has a B.A.S. in Earth Science and Outdoor Education from UMD, and is an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Certified Top Rope Instructor, American Canoe Association (ACA) Open Water Kayak Instructor, Wilderness First Responder and an American Red Cross and American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Instructor. Blake has been a dog musher since 1993, and is a former National Park Service Ranger at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Blake developed the Mush for Kids! event in Northeastern Minnesota in 2002, and has administered over $300,000 in grant funding to support youth programming in the Twin Ports region since 1993.
