Rates & Reservations What to Bring

Dog Sledding Dog sledding is a magical experience that Blake and Steph are proud to share. Since 1993, our friendly Alaskan husky sled dogs have introduced thousands of people to dog sledding with wagging tails and unmatched enthusiasm.

Choose from 2 hours to a full day of mushing. There is no minimum or maximum age, but children 2 and under are free with a paying adult, and can ride on an adult's lap. Children, some as young as 3 years old, enjoy standing on the runners with us as they help drive the team!

Custom overnight dog sledding or skijoring winter camping and fishing trips are available. We are also the only dog sledding kennel in the region that offers horse drawn sleigh rides. Don't forget to ask us about bringing the dog teams to your location for a special event or program.

Our tours are offered 7 days a week. While advanced reservations are recommended, especially for holidays and weekends, give us a call--we can often accommodate same day inquiries. Dog sledding tours are private party--you'll only mush with the people you bring to insure a high quality, hands on experience. Our sleds carry 1-2 adult passengers, 1 adult and 1-2 children, or up to three children.

Positive Energy Outdoors offers scenic trails that rival the beauty of the Boundary Waters and include forests, bogs and frozen lakes. Start out as a passenger as we leave from the kennel--during the tour, you'll have the opportunity to drive the sled with a guide as your coach, or just relax in the basket and enjoy the ride. We also offer a drive your own team option.

To make a reservation, call 218-391-0147 or e-mail info@outdooredventures.org. Payment is by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

Our season runs from early-mid-December through mid-late March. Call about conditions if you are in the area during the beginning or end of the season. Outdoor (ed)Ventures is located "over the hill" from Duluth and has more snow--we'll advise you of snow and ice conditions, which may be very different than near Lake Superior. Outdoor (ed)Ventures is located just 15 miles north of Duluth (a 25-30 minute drive), 40-45 minutes from Two Harbors and approximately 3 hours from the Twin Cities. Upon receipt of your deposit or credit card information, you will receive detailed directions to find us!

The Bog Tour (2 hours) begins with a kennel tour, where you'll meet our friendly Alaskan huskies. You'll learn about the dogs, sleds and other mushing equipment and help harness and hook up the team. We'll start out on our bog trail and then head to Island Lake where you'll explore marshes, bays and the beauty of the lake. Upon returning, give the dogs treats and water, help bring them back to their houses. Get started at 10 am or 2 pm, or call for a custom start time. $175/adult, $125/child under 12.

The Island Lake Tour (3-4 hours) starts and ends like our Bog Tour, but gives you more time on the sled to explore Island Lake, and covers 13+ miles by dog team. This tour is a great option for those looking for additional time to drive the sled or extended trail time. We start at 9 am or 1 pm, but custom start times are available. $225/adult, $150/child under 12.

A Full Day of Mushing (6 hours) combines the Bog and Island Lake tours, with a break for a delicious hot lunch. Or spend half a day with the dogs and enjoy learning to drive our draft horses and sleigh. We'll start at 10 am and finish at 4 pm. Interested in a second day? Help load up the dogs and head to new trails just down the road for an unforgettable mushing experience. $350/adult, $225/child under 12

The Family Tour (2 hours) is designed for young mushers and their families. Preschool to elementary aged children love this hands on experience. After a kennel tour, help harness your team, and head to our 1/2 mile bog loop. You'll take turns riding in the sled, and can even hop up on the runners and try driving the team. You'll have fantastic photo opportunities and great memories. Tours run between 9 am and 3 pm. $350/group of 4, $50/additional participant

On and off site group rates are available. We'll create a customized Winter Sampler experience that can include dog sledding, sled dog kennel tour, horse drawn sleigh rides, snowshoeing to our cranberry bog, wood stove heated wall tent, ice safety/winter survival skills, team building, hot drinks and catered meals. Group experiences are perfect for family reunions, holiday parties, conference activities, scout groups, schools or corporate retreats. Call 218-391-0147 or e-mail info@outdooredventures.org for more information.

Onsite Dog Sledding Group Rate:
Two Dog Teams: $450/first two hours (two hour minimum), $200/additional hours
Three Dog Teams: $650/first two hours (two hour minimum), $300/additional hours

Offsite Dog Sledding Group Rate:

"Thank you so much for the wonderful day. The mentors and kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Your staff was fun and patient which I appreciate so much. For these students, a field trip can be scary and trigger behaviors we are trying to work on - that can make it challenging for those who work with our program. You and Blake should be very proud of what you have built - it is a place where kids can feel safe and be themselves in all their "wonderfulness".

-Lisa, Mentoring Matters Coordintor
"Thank you for making our dog sledding expedition so much fun. Your dogs are loveable and the two of you are so knowledgeable about them and the whole process. We loved it! You are both good teachers, and we knew that you were always there to be sure everything went well. And it did!"

-Andrew, Walllie, Will and Jessie, Ft. Thomas, KY
